New Mechanics and Technicians Sign-on Bonus

$1,000 after completion of 3 months
$2,000 after completion of 6 months
$2,000 after completion of 12 months
Terms and Conditions
Applicable to mechanics and technicians (all trades) who are successfully hired.
Sign on bonus is subject to tax and superannuation in accordance with the relevant legislation.
Sign on bonus is not applicable for returning staff who have left Transit Systems within the preceding 6-month period.
Sign on bonus payments will be made in the first applicable pay adjustment after completion of the period.
If employment ends for any reason, or at the employee’s request transfers to a depot other than Leichhardt prior to the 3, 6 or 12-month period, no payment is due (i.e. there is no pro-rata/partial amount for less than 3, 6 or 12 months).
Amounts stated are paid to full time employees. Part time employees receive a pro-rata based on their hours of work.
If an employee changes status between full time and part time in a 3-month period, a pro-rata calculation will be done based on hours worked in that period.
Sign on bonus payments are not applicable to casual employees.
Employees eligible for the sign-on bonus will also be eligible for the retention bonus payment of an additional $10 per shift worked, up to a maximum of $50 per week once employed (as per applicable Terms and Conditions).
Those on extended leave will be considered on a case-by-case basis with final approval to be determined by the Managing Director.
These Terms and Conditions may be varied as determined by the Managing Director.
This initiative is applicable from 1 October 2023 and may be ended at any time at the discretion of the Managing Director.
